Rules / Notes / Information / Conditions of Entry

  1. Entries close three days before the event
  2. XC events will be run under BE rules
  3. Shows will be run under BHS Riding Club Rules
  4. GLHT reserve the right to cancel, combine, split or amend all classes in the event of insufficient or excessive entries and adverse weather conditions.  No refunds will be made after the closing date unless requests are made in writing with an appropriate veterinary / doctors certificate, in these circumstances 75% of the cost of entries will be refunded.
  5. Rings / times are approximate and may change if one ring is empty before another any amendments etc. will be displayed in the secretary’s caravan on the day of the event
  6. Horses / ponies must be 4 years & over (excl in-hand) and in good health.  Any horse or pony considered by a judge or official not fit to compete will be disqualified from the competition and no refund will made under any circumstances
  7. Riders must wear secured hard hats of current British Standard, at all times when mounted.  Proper riding footwear must be worn at all times when mounted.  Anyone wearing muckers, wellies or trainers will be asked to dismount and will not be allowed to compete.
  8. Body protectors are advised to be worn when jumping
  9. The organisers accept no liability for any loss, damage, accident, injury or illness to horses, persons, property or spectators. 
  10. Vehicles and trailers are parked at the owners risk
  11. Dogs are not encouraged but should be kept under control and on leads at all times
  12. The judge’s decision is final.  Any objections / complaints about judging, stewards, other competitors should be lodged with the secretary in writing within 30 minutes of the Class ending or the results going up, along with a deposit of £25, (returnable if upheld). The decision of the chief steward / judge will be final.
  13. No stallions will be allowed without prior permission.
  14. The practice fence is provided as a warm –up facility for competitors ONLY and must only be used as such.  Anyone found using the fence in excess will be disqualified from the competition and no refund will made under any circumstances
  15. Horses and ponies should not be left unattended at any time
  16. The organisers intend to run the event on time.  Late arrivals will be eliminated unless they can be fitted in without disrupting the organisation of the event.  Every effort will be made to ensure that classes do not clash.  However it is the competitors responsibility to be at the correct ring at the correct time.   Cross country competitors should report to the Start at least 5 minutes before they are due to start.  No refunds will be made if competitors are late, do not turn up or do not attend at the correct ring / start in time for their class /  starting time, late entry into a class is at the judges / starters’ discretion only.
  17. Excess use of whips or spurs will not be allowed - anyone who is considered to be using them to excess with asked to remove them or will be required to leave the field.  In addition Juniors under 16 may only ride in spurs with the Secretary’s approval.
  18. The organisers of this event have taken reasonable precautions to ensure that the health and safety of everyone present.  For these measures to be effective everyone must take reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey instructions of the stewards.
  19. Competitors when riding must be considerate to spectators on foot, horses and other riders when at the start or on show field.  Anyone considered to be riding dangerously will be required to leave the field immediately and forfeit any remaining entry money.
  20. Riders on the Cross country course must always give way to faster horses.
  21. On none cross country events, under no circumstances are any horses allowed on the Cross Country Course without prior arrangement.  Anyone found riding around the XC course will be required to leave the field immediately and forfeit any remaining entry money.
  22. Dressage tests are available from the British Eventing Website
  23. Cross country / dressage starting times will be available on the day before the event between noon and 6.00pm, at the start or by telephone 07751 156720
  24. £5.00 refundable deposit on XC bibs
  25. XC Course open to walk from 2pm to 6pm the day before the event
  26. Competitors will not be encouraged to walk the XC course on the day of a Cross country  event
  27. Competitors and visiting guests must obey parking rules via the parking attendant on the day, failure to do so may result in the competitor being eliminated and all entries forfeited.
